Pakistan Muslims Torture Christian to Death

A Christian laborer was tortured to death by Muslims on May 12 after accusing him of stealing a cell phone. Kashif Masih (35 years old) worked on the agricultural property of former police inspector Malik Irfan for the last three years. His body was found on the street near his home. He had been brutally tortured. He was badly bruised and bleeding from several parts of his body and was barely alive. Before he died, he said that Malik Irfan accused him of stealing the phone and ordered seven accomplices to beat him until he confessed. They started torturing him with wooden clubs and iron bars, hitting him all over his body. When his body was taken to the hospital for an autopsy, they found that the assailants had also hammered several nails into his legs. The police were initially reluctant to register a murder case against a former police officer, but after a large number of Christians gathered at the station, officers eventually registered a First Information Report (FIR) and arrested Irfan. Local Christians have raised funds to support his family and are working to provide good legal representation for Kashif’s family.

• Pray that the police will sincerely deal with this crime and that Malik Irfan and his accomplices will be convicted and jailed for this crime.

• Pray that the Lord will prevent Muslim retaliation against the Christian community for pursuing justice for Kashif.
