Funeral for Christians killed June 1

Christians continue to be murdered by Muslim Fulani militants in the central Nigerian Plateau State and Benue State. After slaughtering at least 50 Christians in one area of Plateau state in April, Fulani herdsmen have recently killed more than 30 more in recent weeks. Some of the attacks continue for days, with the Nigerian security forces and police doing nothing to stop the killers. The militants have also burned down hundreds of homes and farming fields. In Benue State, a prominent attorney is petitioning the president of Nigeria to declare a military emergency after Fulani herdsmen killed 86 people in the past two weeks. The attackers came in large numbers on motorcycles, riding past several military checkpoints to reach the villages they attack, and nothing was done to stop them as before or after the killings. Such killings have been taking place in this region of Nigeria for decades, but the government continues to do nothing to protect its Christian citizens.

Please pray…

  • Pray that the Lord will comfort those who have lost loved ones and heal them of the trauma they have experienced.

  • Pray that the Christians in Nigeria will not lose hope and that the Lord will comfort and strengthen them.

  • Pray that the government and security forces will do more to protect Nigeria’s Christian citizens.

  • Pray that the President of Nigeria and the governors of the Muslim states will be replaced by leaders who respect the rights of Christians to live in peace and worship as they please.
