Laos Youth Rejected by Parents for Newfound Faith

A young Christian has been rejected by his family for his faith in Christ. Oya, 22, thought that his parents would be happy or at least interested when he told them about his decision to trust in Jesus Christ and be baptized. Instead, they became angry, scolding him and warning him that, if he would not renounce Jesus, they would call the police to arrest him and put him in jail. Later, they told him he was no longer their son. Oya is deeply troubled by this situation and does not know where to go. In May of 2026, Oya attended a youth seminar, shared his testimony and received prayer, which encouraged him.

Pray for Oya to grow strong in his faith and not be discouraged.
Pray that his parents will open their hearts to Jesus Christ and receive Oya back as their son.
Pray that the Lord will provide for Oya’s material needs if he is not allowed to return home.
