A Christian woman continues to heal in the aftermath of Islamist captivity. In 2022, Islamist al-Shabab fighters attacked the community in northern Mozambique, killing and abducting several people, including Casilda Eliash, then 45. The militants demanded that the Christian captives convert to Islam. Casilda remained in captivity for two years, and she was repeatedly beaten and subjected to sexual abuse. After she escaped, Casilda’s husband divorced her because he considered her impure due to the abuse she had endured.

Please pray…

  • Pray that the Lord will completely heal Casilda of the emotional and spiritual trauma she experienced in captivity and after her escape.

  • Pray that the Lord’s love will be real and tangible to her and that she will not doubt His love.

  • Pray that she will be able to have regular, deep fellowship with other Christians.
