Afghanistan Young Christian Forcibly Married

Mina, an Afghan Christian, was forced by her father to marry an abusive Muslim man because of her faith. The twenty-year-old became a follower of Christ after meeting some Christians online, and through her online community, she continued to grow in her faith. One day a neighbor overheard her worshiping God through an open window. The neighbor informed Mina’s father, and he beat her severely. He then forced her to marry an older Muslim man. Many women who convert from Islam regularly face five consequences in Afghanistan: physical violence, psychological violence, sexual violence, forced marriage or abduction. Mina has experienced three of those conditions. A Christian who knows her situation says that she is confused, but she is standing firm in her faith and has not recanted her faith in Jesus.

• Pray that the Lord will bless Mina with His presence, comfort and peace.

• Pray that she will be able to have contact with other Christians and have the fellowship she desperately needs.
